World of Tanks: HEAT is a hero-driven tank shooter from Wargaming. Each vehicle is piloted by an Agent with a distinct set of abilities, shifting the classic tank-battle formula toward fast, team-based combat.

Matches run 5v5 or 10v10. Every Agent is tied to a specific tank and brings a role to the fight — assault, sniper, or support. Tanks are upgradable with weapons, armor, and experimental modules tuned to the Agent’s playstyle. Not sure if the grind and the ability-heavy combat are for you? Here’s a closer look at what works and what doesn’t.

Key Features of World of Tanks: HEAT (2026)

  1. Agents with unique abilities. Each character brings a different skill set, changing how you approach a fight — front-line assault or ranged support.
  2. Modular damage system. Hitting vulnerable modules like ammo racks or fuel tanks deals more damage than hull shots.
  3. Vehicle customization. Tanks can be fitted with different weapons, armor, and experimental modules to match a specific playstyle.
  4. Cross-platform play. Available on PC via Steam and Wargaming Game Center, plus Steam Deck, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce NOW, with progression synced across devices on one account.
  5. Fast team-based PvP. Matches are built around close engagements and quick exchanges rather than passive positioning.

World of Tanks: HEAT: Player Review

Based on one player’s review, coming from a War Thunder background.
Pros Cons
Low entry barrier for players coming from other tank games Damage calculation feels inconsistent — same hit location, different damage output
Strong sound design: gunfire, explosions, hit markers on module damage Small vehicle roster at launch — around two dozen tanks
Detailed vehicle graphics: headlight glass, lighting fixtures, fire effects Clunky menu navigation — extra screen transitions to select a mode
High combat pace from close-range engagements No hangar zoom or rotation — vehicles can only be inspected in battle
Large number of game modes VPN access issues affecting part of the CIS player base
No “stock” tanks — vehicles are combat-ready from the start Sluggish turning and mobility even on top-tier vehicles
Overall verdict from the review: gameplay and visuals landed well, with reservations about the project’s long-term prospects.

Gameplay’s actually solid once you get past the first week of crashes. Feels like WoT and Battlefield had a baby, low skill floor but the ability spam mid-fight is chaotic in a fun way. Roster’s thin right now though, only ~20 tanks, and menu navigation is clunky as hell. Worth a shot since it’s free, just don’t expect War Thunder depth.
